Firmware password is a extra layer of security for your Macbook, when you set firmware password on your MacBook so user who don't have the password can't install or erase your Mac OS,
There is two option to set firmware password on your MacBook,
Option 1. Turn on your Mac and then go to Utilities and find terminal open it by duble click,
then type ( sudo firmwarepasswd -setpasswd ) hit enter and then type your login password then hit enter,
now set your desire password then hit enter, then re-enter the password and hit enter,
your password is set.
if you want to delete your firmware password just type ( sudo firmwarepasswd -delete ) you'll need the current password to delete it.
Option 2. setup from Mac OS recovery, shutdown your mac and enter recovery mode by hold down
( command+R ) button then turn on by pressing power button,
click on Utility option then choose Startup Security Utility, click turn on firmware password,
and type your desire password in the fields provided, then click set password, remember the password,
Quite the Utility then choose apple menu restart, you successfully set firmware password on your Mac,
if you want to turn off firmware password on your Mac , startup from macOS recovery, now enter firmware password,
and then click on Utility option then choose Startup Security Utility, then choose Turn Off Firmware Password, enter your current password done...
